EU unveils plan for new digital ID wallet
The European Commission has suggested creating a digital wallet, effectively a form of ID, that can be used across all 27 EU member states to access public services or store documents.
The EU recently signed off on a similar plan to allow vaccinations or coronavirus tests to be recognized across all 27 member states.
According to the proposal, EU citizens would be able to sign up voluntarily for the European Digital Identity Wallets, which would allow them access to a wide range of public services and store official documents.
